STOCK WATER INTERUPTION UPDATE

WIL has maintenance work scheduled again this week and some work will require the main water race to be turned off during the day and back on at night-time.

ZONE 2 OFF, Tuesday & Wednesday 30th & 31st May.
ZONE 3 OFF, Approximately half of the zone for most of this week.
ZONE 1 & 4 some water interruptions may occur throughout the week, but we hope to minimise water shortages.

More rain is forecast in the catchment so we will also need to keep a watch out for how much the river will rise again.

The Waimakariri Irrigation Ltd Scheme is a shareholder-owned cooperative company with consent to take water 11.041 cumecs from the Waimakariri River. Water is drawn from the Waimakariri River at Browns Rock for distribution through 1,100 kilometres of open race channels to supply around 200 shareholders. The Scheme supplies farms covering approximately 30,000 ha within an overall area of 78,000 ha and is located between the Waimakariri and the Ashley Rivers and between Oxford and Rangiora townships.
