STOCK WATER CLOSURE FOR MAINTENANCE ZONE 2 CUST – Wednesday 20TH March 2019

Race 12 below McKeagues drain (Glews Road) in the Cust basin will be affected.

Water will be off tomorrow Wednesday 20th March.

We are aiming to bring the water back on Friday, these works are part of the Cust Pumps inlet race upgrade.

We are targeting this time of year to undertake the works because of minimal irrigation usage is this area and ground conditions are suitable near swamp road where the works are taking place.

We apologise for the inconvenience, these works need to be completed now while conditions are suitable. We hope to get the water reinstated to you as soon as possible.

The Waimakariri Irrigation Ltd Scheme is a shareholder-owned cooperative company with consent to take water 11.041 cumecs from the Waimakariri River. Water is drawn from the Waimakariri River at Browns Rock for distribution through 1,100 kilometres of open race channels to supply around 200 shareholders. The Scheme supplies farms covering approximately 30,000 ha within an overall area of 78,000 ha and is located between the Waimakariri and the Ashley Rivers and between Oxford and Rangiora townships.
