PENDING STOCK WATER SHUTDOWNS

ZONE 2 Stock Water with be shut off this Sunday for approximately 2 days.

ZONE 3 Stock Water races that feed off the main race will also be affected by this closure.

Works are starting on Monday to lower Siphon Pipes at Warren Road. Some pipes are currently at risk during major river flood events. We require this closure to block off the Eyre River Siphon Pipes and divert stock water via the Old Siphon for the next 2-3 weeks. Water flows will be limited by the water carrying capacity of the Old Siphon.

We are also starting preparations for works at the intake that could affect stock water flows throughout the scheme. I will keep you updated early next week.

The Waimakariri Irrigation Ltd Scheme is a shareholder-owned cooperative company with consent to take water 11.041 cumecs from the Waimakariri River. Water is drawn from the Waimakariri River at Browns Rock for distribution through 1,100 kilometres of open race channels to supply around 200 shareholders. The Scheme supplies farms covering approximately 30,000 ha within an overall area of 78,000 ha and is located between the Waimakariri and the Ashley Rivers and between Oxford and Rangiora townships.
