Given the river flow is down and irrigation demand is low it is an opportune time for WIL to bund off the intake structure for our annual inspection.
We are currently making plans to finalise the site work and will keep you updated. We will have to see how the forecast shapes up later in the week because any rain in the catchment could impact the work in the river.

The take home message is if you need to irrigate do so this week and stock water interruptions will occur next week for several days; you may need to plan for this.

The Waimakariri Irrigation Ltd Scheme is a shareholder-owned cooperative company with consent to take water 11.041 cumecs from the Waimakariri River. Water is drawn from the Waimakariri River at Browns Rock for distribution through 1,100 kilometres of open race channels to supply around 200 shareholders. The Scheme supplies farms covering approximately 30,000 ha within an overall area of 78,000 ha and is located between the Waimakariri and the Ashley Rivers and between Oxford and Rangiora townships.
