The Waimak river peaked at 400 m3/sec yesterday at Otarama. Flood water did not quite get down in time yesterday to the old highway bridge to change the ECAN restriction posting.
You would have received a water cancellation via water metrics for today. It is unlikely the intake screens would have been able to operate at higher than stock water flows anyway due the amount of debris in the river floodwater.
Once the flood water subsides, we will need to assess the intake. We will most likely need to do river works before we open for irrigation.
We will keep you updated.
