This message is recorded at 8:30am Wednesday 19th March 2025 The scheme has received 40-50mm of rain and Arthurs Pass receiving 112mm since yesterday.

We expect ECAN to lift restrictions and increase the water allocation to 100% from the Waimakariri River this afternoon at 2pm.

Irrigators, please review your water order status, if you no longer require water please delete or pause your water orders in the Water Metrics system before the 3pm cut off today.

We currently have 92 orders in the water ordering system that could be confirmed after 3pm today via email conformation for delivery tomorrow to the farm gate. Flooding issues will result if we deliver your water tomorrow and you dont intend to turn on.

The Waimakariri Irrigation Ltd Scheme is a shareholder-owned cooperative company with consent to take water 11.041 cumecs from the Waimakariri River. Water is drawn from the Waimakariri River at Browns Rock for distribution through 1,100 kilometres of open race channels to supply around 200 shareholders. The Scheme supplies farms covering approximately 30,000 ha within an overall area of 78,000 ha and is located between the Waimakariri and the Ashley Rivers and between Oxford and Rangiora townships.
