IRRIGATION WATER INTERUPTION UPDATE

The intake required river works this morning resulting in a flow reduction from 6am to 11am. We also needed to undertake some maintenance on the wash system. Some hoses were damaged in the recent floods and needed replaced.

So, for a 5-hour period flows have been reduced.

Zone 1 – Mostly not effected
Zone 2 – Water is dropping off significantly at the Warren Road Siphon now.
Zone 3 – Mostly not effected apart from races R4, R5, R6.
Zone 4 – End of line irrigators may run out of water for a period mid to late afternoon.

The intake is back up and running at full capacity.

The Waimakariri Irrigation Ltd Scheme is a shareholder-owned cooperative company with consent to take water 11.041 cumecs from the Waimakariri River. Water is drawn from the Waimakariri River at Browns Rock for distribution through 1,100 kilometres of open race channels to supply around 200 shareholders. The Scheme supplies farms covering approximately 30,000 ha within an overall area of 78,000 ha and is located between the Waimakariri and the Ashley Rivers and between Oxford and Rangiora townships.
