BUFFER POND OUTLET MALFUNCTION DISRUPTING FLOWS TO ZONE 2, 3 & 4

In the early hours of this morning this site malfunctioned closing the gate outlet from the buffer pond, the gate was re-opened manually at 6.30am

Zone 2 water will start returning from 9.30am onwards from the Eyre Siphon, please restart as water returns.

Zone 3 water will start returning from 7am onwards, please restart as water returns.

Zone 4 water will start returning from 10.30am onwards from Wolff’s Road Siphon with flows gradually increasing to the bottom mid-afternoon, please restart as water returns.

All communication and data including flow gauging is limited from this site currently, at this time flow gauging is a best estimate.
We will be working with NIWA throughout the day to get the issue resolved.

The Waimakariri Irrigation Ltd Scheme is a shareholder-owned cooperative company with consent to take water 11.041 cumecs from the Waimakariri River. Water is drawn from the Waimakariri River at Browns Rock for distribution through 1,100 kilometres of open race channels to supply around 200 shareholders. The Scheme supplies farms covering approximately 30,000 ha within an overall area of 78,000 ha and is located between the Waimakariri and the Ashley Rivers and between Oxford and Rangiora townships.
