Late last night the Browns Rock Intake and other water control sites across the scheme lost power due to high winds. It was reported by Mainpower that 30% – 40% of the district lost power. Therefore we activated the intake backup system to shut the intake gates, reducing water levels to stock water flows. The shut down was also put into action as a result of not knowing how many pump stations and irrigators are affected by the power outage.
Irrigators please turn off today as water race levels subside and let stock water go past.
As a result of cumulative rainfall in the catchment we will also need to monitor the river water levels throughout the day. This may result in the intake being shut down completely.
We will monitor the situation throughout the morning and you will be advised when to re-order Irrigation water.
