Met Service have a heavy rain watch in place for the Waimakariri District. Given the unpredictable nature of this type of South Easterly weather system, we have decided to shut the intake gates. Also, water will be shut off at the Wolff’s and Warren Road Siphons at 4.30pm. This is to mitigate any flooding potential overnight.

Irrigators, please keep your systems pumping until the water levels drop in the water race network.

If you have received a confirmation of irrigation water for tomorrow via the water metrics app. please ignore this message.

The Waimakariri Irrigation Ltd Scheme is a shareholder-owned cooperative company with consent to take water 11.041 cumecs from the Waimakariri River. Water is drawn from the Waimakariri River at Browns Rock for distribution through 1,100 kilometres of open race channels to supply around 200 shareholders. The Scheme supplies farms covering approximately 30,000 ha within an overall area of 78,000 ha and is located between the Waimakariri and the Ashley Rivers and between Oxford and Rangiora townships.
