BROWNS ROCK INTAKE CLOSURE:
This message is recorded at 9:20pm Monday 27th October 2025.
Due to continued rainfall in the catchment ECAN have flood warnings in place for the Waimakariri River.
The intake gates were shut down at 8.30pm this evening and the river in the upper catchment is currently flowing around 620m3/sec.and rising. ECAN are predicting the peak flow will be around 1500 m3/sec.
The wild weather continues
We will update you as soon as the intake is able to be re-opened.
