2023 – 2024 IRRIGATION SEASON WATER UPDATE

Starting tomorrow Irrigators requiring water mostly for storage ponds, please place water orders through the Water Metrics water ordering application. Cut off time is 3pm daily.

ECAN have set the flow for the Waimakariri River @ 59 cumecs for tomorrow and the water take is at 85% allocation.

We require some shutdowns in the coming weeks to undertake maintenance and upgrade works. You will receive advanced notification and we will do our best to accommodate your needs but do expect some water cancelations.

The Waimakariri Irrigation Ltd Scheme is a shareholder-owned cooperative company with consent to take water 11.041 cumecs from the Waimakariri River. Water is drawn from the Waimakariri River at Browns Rock for distribution through 1,100 kilometres of open race channels to supply around 200 shareholders. The Scheme supplies farms covering approximately 30,000 ha within an overall area of 78,000 ha and is located between the Waimakariri and the Ashley Rivers and between Oxford and Rangiora townships.
